General Materials

The material options available today from the Chemical Industry present an overlapping and often confusing picture to a project manager. With over 50 years experience using nearly every elastomer classification and category, Flexan can recommend the most viable "off-the-shelf" formulation for your project.

Markets Served

We provide vertically integrated molding services to the OEM marketplace in a wide variety of industries, including: medical, micro precision, industrial controls, food / water handling, paper handling & rollers and automotive. Whether your application requires design assistance, special formulations or extremely tight tolerances, our team of professional chemists and engineers has the experience and expertise to develop and deliver your part.

Molding Process

Flexan produces parts by three main processes:

  • Liquid Injection Molding (LIM)
  • Compression Molding
  • Transfer Molding

Our engineers will evaluate your project to determine the appropriate process for your part's requirements. From short runs to mass production, we have the capacity to mold your product to spec, on time and on budget.

Insert Molding

We are recognized industry leaders in rubber to substrate (metal or plastic) bonding and insert molding. In order for rubber to adhere to a substrate material such as metal or plastic, several key preparatory steps must be taken. These may include:

  • degreasing / cleaning
  • abrading
  • chemical etching
  • applying a bonding agent or adhesive

When done correctly, the bond will be physically stronger than the rubber, meaning the rubber will tear before the bond fails. A part that requires insert molding adds an extra dimension of difficulty to the process as the mold design must positively locate, orient and hold the insert in the exact position throughout the molding cycle.
